Hitachi Projector image skews into parallelogram

Hi all,

 

I have a Hitachi projector, only a few months old, and every know and again the projected image skews into a parallelogram shape, as seen on the attached picture. The error is cleared by pressing auto on the remote to redetect the input.

 

Has anyone else ever seen a projector do that, or have the faintest idea why that might happen?

 

It's not the graphics card, as this is going through a video splitter and the desktop monitor display is fine. I'm really doubtful its the cable or splitter, as resetting the projector clears it.

 

As its fairly new I've got an agreement from my supplier (who's tech support had never seen such a thing either) to swap it out, but I'm just really curious! Some part of the graphics processor in the projector perhaps?

Obviously this makes it a little tricky for the person using the PC, but I'd run it without the splitter and see if it makes a difference. My money is that it will.

Possible I suppose, but this only started happening when we got the new projector, it was never a problem with the old one.

We had some HP laptops which wouldn't work with a projector which all other laptops did, including other HPs. Some laptops/projectors are just more sensitive to different connections. If the signal quality drops slightly for some reason (outside interference) then it could just be enough to skew the image, but "auto"ing the projector re-establishes the connection.

Thinking about it, you could have a point there Jawloms. Maybe I'll consider swapping out the splitter before I send the projector back.
