chekmate1984 Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Hi guys At a school i work at, some users have a issue where they can work normal then all of sudden they cant browse internet, it says proxy server is not responding what i dont understand is we dont have any proxy server and not for the past 5 years atleast! There is no GPO that defines any sort of policies only way to resolve this is reset profile, under there profile onserver we rename to .old and ask them to log back in and it works.... any ideas what can cause this? we get quite few requests per day and would be glad to avoid this extra work. it happens to any random users, some users its happening often and they random users at random classes... thanks in advance its a ex capita school for rough idea on network setup in event viewer i can only find below as a culprit but not sure if it is or isnt i found below in event log....could this be culprit? 9 user registry handles leaked from \Registry\User\S-1-5-21-2345995549-805926656-2659328137-34116: Process 3568 (\Device\HarddiskVolume1\Windows\System32\winlogon.exe) has opened key \REGISTRY\USER\S-1-5-21-2345995549-805926656-2659328137-34116 Process 3932 (\Device\HarddiskVolume1\Windows\System32\PrintIsolationHost.exe) has opened key \REGISTRY\USER\S-1-5-21-2345995549-805926656-2659328137-34116 Process 1044 (\Device\HarddiskVolume1\Windows\System32\svchost.exe) has opened key \REGISTRY\USER\S-1-5-21-2345995549-805926656-2659328137-34116\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main Process 1044 (\Device\HarddiskVolume1\Windows\System32\svchost.exe) has opened key \REGISTRY\USER\S-1-5-21-2345995549-805926656-2659328137-34116\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings Process 1044 (\Device\HarddiskVolume1\Windows\System32\svchost.exe) has opened key \REGISTRY\USER\S-1-5-21-2345995549-805926656-2659328137-34116\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings Process 1044 (\Device\HarddiskVolume1\Windows\System32\svchost.exe) has opened key \REGISTRY\USER\S-1-5-21-2345995549-805926656-2659328137-34116\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings Process 1044 (\Device\HarddiskVolume1\Windows\System32\svchost.exe) has opened key \REGISTRY\USER\S-1-5-21-2345995549-805926656-2659328137-34116\Software Process 1044 (\Device\HarddiskVolume1\Windows\System32\svchost.exe) has opened key \REGISTRY\USER\S-1-5-21-2345995549-805926656-2659328137-34116\Software\Policies Process 1044 (\Device\HarddiskVolume1\Windows\System32\svchost.exe) has opened key \REGISTRY\USER\S-1-5-21-2345995549-805926656-2659328137-34116\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
strawberry Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Can you see the proxy settings when this happens? Do you use any classroom management software?
chekmate1984 Posted November 26, 2015 Author Posted November 26, 2015 sadly its restricted so unable to see the proxy settings. We do use classroom management software, we use ab tutor. But this issue happens once a day sometimes few times and in different classes. so could it be linked to ab tutor?

I think abtutor has a built in proxy if you're using it's web-access list thingy Steve
chekmate1984 Posted November 26, 2015 Author Posted November 26, 2015 I have just got told this issue was occuring even before ab tutor was installed. They had net support before, they had issue then, then they uninstalled net support and was without any software and still it had issue and then installed ab tutor and still issue. its been going on for years apparently.
Steve21 Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 When it "breaks" if it's fairly common as you say, try to remote view registry as an admin. Have a look if there's any settings applying to the proxy settings etc Steve
strawberry Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 turn off the website logging under the logging policy. It enforces a proxy to 127.0.0.1 and that conks out. likely the same with net support too.
chekmate1984 Posted February 4, 2016 Author Posted February 4, 2016 tried all above, uninstalled ABtutor from one class room but still having same issues. Theres some offices that dont even have ABtutor installed and its doing this. Whats bugging is only way to resolve is by resetting profile. So theres something in profile or something being done to change the profile setting.
PaulPierce8 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 We have started having this issue. Same setup as above - AB Tutor, previously NetSupport and no proxy server on site. Did you get a fix? Thanks
