Add cachepilot to w2k3 DNS

At work (but shouldn't be as a bit under weather so brain working less than normal low strength ) and I need to get espresso on an Asus eee pc but of course the cachepilot isn't automatically in DNS (as it has static IP) and the Asus says what cachepilot!

 

As my fellow course members know, DNS is where I get lost and I can never remember from one year to another how/where to stick in a entry in the forward/backward/sideways zone

 

Help please!

PS as an aside ifconfig on linux doesn't seem to give as much info as ipconfig in windows - how can I find out what DNS/DHCP server the linux box thinks it has?

You need to create a new 'A' record (in the forward DNS zone for your domain) for the cache pilot.

less /etc/resolv.conf

 

DHCP:

 

 less /var/lib/dhcp3/dhclient.eth0.leases

(Scroll to the bottom for the latest lease).

 

(The file name might change depending on the name of the interface).

Most of the cachepilots are on xxx.xxx.xxx.250. If yours is add the a record to dns of your windows 2003 dns server.
