Not enough space to extract tar file

Hi All

 

I'm updating my MC1550 controller to v7 from v6.1 but coming up against

"Not enough space to extract tar" file in the CLI window.

 

The contents of the directory is below.. Can I delete some of these files? namely the meru gather files.

Nothing happens when I try and delete the old system files. no error just doesn't delete the files. I have rebooted the controller.

I did Successfully deleted the Meru gather files but it doesn't appear to have made any more space, still getting "need 298mb extra free but only have 188mb" error.

QUESTION: Not enough space to extract tar file 'meru-x.x-xxx-MCxxxx-rpm.tar'.

 

ANSWER : This issue is seen when there is not enough space on the controller to upload a code on it. This could happen when the controller has multiple software code in it or unwanted files in it or the memory space of the controller is not big enough to hold the code in its flash.

 

To fix this issue, you need to free up space on the controller. Check the flash for existing code and delete the unused codes. To accomplish this task, you can use the commands show flash. Once you have found the codes that needs to be deleted, use the command delete flash: code .

 

At times it might require to delete the code of the current software running on the controller but it is Ok to do that.

 

You can check the available space on the controller by performing the command show file systems and the available space should be greater than 50% and used space should be lesser than 50%.

 

Once you can confirm this, the code should get uploaded fine
