Eudora931 Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Hi, Those of you using Chrome books - is there much out there that you use for the programming side of the curriculum that can be done using chrome books? Thank you :-)

STK91 Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 I think you can get python and app inventor for Chromebook. I recommend not going near App Inventor as I have had a lot of dealings with it and it always breaks !! 1
Bev Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Anything that is online will work on a Chromebook. Espresso Coding do a block language that would be good for KS1/2, we start at Year 5 and it's a bit too simple for what we need. We use Scratch a lot, that's all online now. Code Academy (although I find that a bit dry) We have decided to use CodeAvengers this year and see how that works. We trialled it at the end of last year and it looked good. Again, all online. Hour of Code have lots of resources that will work in a web-browser. 1
NotSoFast Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 I recommend not going near App Inventor as I have had a lot of dealings with it and it always breaks !! The online version (AI2) doesn't require any local install so long as you have some physical devices to test with. If they have the companion app it just works over WiFi.

NotSoFast Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Cssdeck.com/labs is good for playing with html and css (just to learn rather than to build real sites)

Bev Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 We use MyMaths, Education City, Cool Maths, bbc bitesize, sumdog.
