WPAD for proxy, it's so easy but it seems hardly anyone does it. Just need a web server on the LAN.

Set laptop us as standalone and either use HAP+ or a VPN and mapped drives. I tried using offline files and as others have said, I could never get on with them. There's a few proxy switcher scripts mentioned above but I use proxyswitcher.msi and it puts anicon in the taskbar so you can click home or work (there is an auto option but it never seems to work, i need to look at that!)
