steven_layton_sl Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 (edited) Hi all I have a few dozen email distribution groups in Office 365 which I'd like to convert into Security Groups so I can also use them to assign permissions against, but also so that OneDrive and SharePoint documents can be shared via them. Is it possible to somehow convert the groups, maybe via PowerShell? Or do I need to create them from scratch? Edited November 2, 2015 by steven_layton_sl
halbaradkenafin Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 I believe you need to make the groups again but you can easily do that with Powershell, especially since you could loop through existing groups and create the group and add members as you go.
Steve21 Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Are they local AD groups sync'd up? Or just in o365? If it's AD just change the type etc Steve
rob101 Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 If you change the type from Distribution to Security will the Distribution groups still work?
steven_layton_sl Posted November 3, 2015 Author Posted November 3, 2015 OK, so I have created a new test Security group. The group shows its self as an option to share a OneDrive document to, but my colleagues do not see that document in their "Shared with me" list. What am I doing wrong? - - - Updated - - - Just on O365
