Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has seen this issue with Multipoint 2011?

It would appear that our two multipoint servers are not applying group policies. This only came to light when new users logged on and they were not getting the managed desktop. We have no idea how long this has been going on for because other members of staff and students were getting a cached profiles so their desktop were ok.

We have two multipoint servers and we have identical problem on each server which is very odd. Both servers are fully up to date as far as Microsoft updates are concerned.

If you do a “gpupdate / force” you basically get the report back that the computer and user policies can’t be applied. Running GPReport shows the following error.

Group Policy Infrastructure failed due to the error listed below.

The specified server cannot perform the requested operation.

Note: Due to the GP Core failure, none of the other Group Policy components processed their policy. Consequently, status information for the other components is not available.

RSOP shows red X on both the users and computer configuration.

Both server have been removed from the domain, computer accounts deleted and then added back - same problem. Running “gpupdate / force” on any other computer on the domain works fine.

NSlookup resolve both the server and FQDN name to the correct IP address.

We don't appear to have any DNS problems and everything apart from the two multipoint servers is working.

I know it looks like a AD / DNS issue but all other computers and laptops seem to be fine. It’s just the two multipoint servers and both have worked for the last four years with few issues or problems!!
