blu4 Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Hi guys, I'm having a big issue atm with copying files to any of my VMs. I am trying to copy a lot of files from the virtual machine host to a single virtual machine and the speeds are so bad. Barely reaching 1MBps! This is an internal network with a 10Gbps NIC. I disabled VMQ but that didn't seem to help. 1
Jawloms Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I had this on a Dell and it turned out to be that the physical NICs were using Microsofts drivers. I installed the Dell NIC drivers and everything went quick again.

I installed the Dell NIC drivers and everything went quick again. I've installed the drivers for the host machine- they're Emulex. I see all the advanced options in the NIC config panel.

blu4 Posted October 26, 2015 Author Posted October 26, 2015 The network speed says 10Gbps and it takes 11h to copy 9GB :| I must fix this- I have 1.4TB of sh*t to copy before monday.

Steve I have got two NICs working. One is a 10Gbps fibre connected to the second server and the other one is an ethernet cable connected to the core switch. I have made vSwitches on both NICs and bridged them together. I have disabled VMQ on the host NICs in the configuration menu. The thing is, when I copy files from the VM to the host it goes at MAX speed but when I copy from host to VM it goes at snails pace. I've attatched a picture. I have also done TCP IPv4 offloading but that didn't help either. Do I have to reset the NICs when I change the settings? Edited October 26, 2015 by blu4

edutech4schools Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I had this and found that if I made the connection the other way round it went much faster. So if currently you are on the host and opening a share on the vm do it the other way round, from the vm connect to the host share and copy. Might help, might not.
