DanHamilton Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Hi, Yet another MDM thread... One hurdle after another. Over at: http://deploy.apple.com there is NONE of the options talked about here https://www.apple.com/au/education/docs/DEP_Guide.pdf Which makes the instructions in the iBoss settings panel also unusable... To fully enable Apple's Device Enrollment Program, you must complete the Apple DEP Auth Token Upload process Step 1 - Enter your department's name and support phone number, then click 'Save' above Step 2 - Download and save MobileEther's Public Key using the blue button below Step 3 - Click here to open Apple's Deployment Programs website Step 4 - Use the provided Public Key to create a virtual MDM server on Apple's website Step 5 - Download and save the Auth Token provided by Apple for the virtual MDM server Step 6 - Upload the Auth Token you downloaded from Apple in Step 5 by using the green button below What I am trying to do is link iBoss with Apple Configurator 2 and allow them to work together (instead of currently against eachother...). I need the devices to be "supervised" so that I can make the most of the settings/restrictions available to supervised devices, such as; -Ability to stop users from setting a passcode -Changing the wallpaper My devices are now "supervised", after 3 attempts of trying to set it up with Apple Configurator. The Apple guide I linked above (https://www.apple.com/au/education/docs/DEP_Guide.pdf) talks about having settings on the left panel, where as mine looks like the image below. Any help/guidance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dan
Quackers Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Im a little confused, you link to a DEP guide, if you are using DEP you should not need to supervise them or use Apple Configurator as DEP supervises them over the air during the first run setup process. 1

Then I am also confused, I haven't been able to get any further because of the options that are not showing (or I am looking in the wrong place somehow, I don't know) I am in general need of support setting it up.
localzuk Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Ok, to go back to the beginning. Were the devices you're configuring purchased in the last (I think) 2 years? If so, there's no need to be making them supervised - you can add them to the DEP setup via your reseller - they just tell Apple which ones you bought. You then add your MDM solution to the DEP site, and link those 2 together. So, your iPads, when first set up, check in with Apple and find that they are supervised and then get referred straight to your MDM to get policies. No need for configurator. On the Apple Deploy site, you should be able to click on the Device Enrollment Program item, and will then get a few options: Manage Servers, Manage Devices and View Assignment History. You want Manage Servers to go through the process of adding your MDM server. 1

Those options aren't there so I am going to try to enroll a new account in the program. - Hopefully that provides a quick fix. I already have the cert from iBoss ready to upload and create the virtual MDM server. Can't believe we didn't have DEP set up here before. (I'm new) I'll update once all works out.
localzuk Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 With your enrollment, have you gone through all the confirmation processes? ie. Apple calling you up etc...?
DanHamilton Posted October 22, 2015 Author Posted October 22, 2015 With your enrollment, have you gone through all the confirmation processes? ie. Apple calling you up etc...? As I said in my previous post I am new, the IT administrator I work with thought it was setup. The account used to login @deploy.apple.com had no options to enroll into the DEP program, no options anywhere regarding it so I guess it wasn't setup with the account, not too sure... Anyway I've enrolled the new account with DEP, Apple will review it within 5 days apparently. Hopefully it's sorted soon, I wanted to do a lot throughout half term.

VPP accounts of a certain age cannot be enrolled in DEP. Setting up new is your only method.

I see, that has obviously caused this confusion. Thank you. We had the call with Apple yesterday, just waiting for it to be activated Then I can take the next steps in the setup.
