edutech4schools Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Just went into disk manager on my Samsung laptop which has a 500gb hybrid drive and I get the following partitions listed. I assume it is not using the SSD partition for the OS, which is Windows 10.
mowgli82 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I was under the impression that most hybrid drives you don't actually see the SSD portion, it does the that behind the scenes 1
localzuk Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Indeed. Hybrid Drives don't give you direct access to the SSD bit - it is used as a kind of buffer, where it learns what data is most commonly accessed and stores it there. I use mine for games - so when I start a new game it takes a while to launch, but subsequently, the game launches much faster, for example. 1
Arthur Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 The OS won't "see" the SSD part of the drive. 1
