jjohnsoncantell Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Greetings, I'm having numerous c000021a stop errors with status of c0000005 apprearing seemingly at random across my network. None of the clients experiencing this create crash dumps which is making it difficult to narrow down the cause. It has been happening across a range of models with differing hardware and the only real link between them (bar chipset drivers) is the use of the igdkmd32.sys driver installed by the intel graphics software. I have updated this on all the affected units but the problem is still there, albeit less frequently. There were suggestions that this could also be caused by drives being in AHCI mode using the IAstor driver. All of the clients are in AHCI mode however not all of the affected clients use the IAstor driver. I was considering re-installing the chipset drivers next but seeming as these aren't drivers per se (all they do is give the device a name and copy the standard MS drivers) I didn't think this would make any difference. Am I wrong in assuming this? I've seen so many "experts" copying and pasting directly from the MS "troubleshooting stop errors" pages and asking for dumps (which any research on this error tells you aren't created) and offering no actual advice. Any suggestions as to what may be causing these stop errors would be most welcome. Anyone have any experience of these errors in the past, I would be interested to know what you did to resolve them. Thanks
Steve21 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Can you replicate the issue or is it fairly regular? If you run DrWatson on the machine it'll log the error even on BSOD, then after the restart should be able to see the logs from DrWatson Might narrow it down a bit Steve
jjohnsoncantell Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 Thanks for your answer Steve. I've tried to replicate it with no luck, I did have one client that was doing it randomly but frequently. I re-installed the driver and it seemed to stop but when it went back to user it happened again, although not as regularly. I didn't even realise DrWatson was part of Win7, can you link me to how to use it please? James
Duke5A Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Try turning off video acceleration in Office and see if it makes any difference.
jjohnsoncantell Posted October 22, 2015 Author Posted October 22, 2015 I've looked into that and it seems to be a 2013 issue, I'm on 2010 but will give it a try. Thank you.
jjohnsoncantell Posted October 28, 2015 Author Posted October 28, 2015 Didnt work I'm afraid, still getting crashes. Any other ideas?
