Replacement 15" LCD / TFT

The backlights on our 15" Fujitsu Siemens are starting to fail so I was wondering if you lot had any decent 15" monitors to recommend?

 

Native Res 1024x768 (not that ive seen many 15" that arent)

 

Looking at sub £100 ex VAT

 

It would be useful if they were long term models so the ICT rooms dont look a mess with random makes/models as time goes on. Obviously this isnt always possible but I would like to continue with the same model where possible.

 

We have just recently bought some HP DX2300 PCs which are black, so black monitors would be preferred as Im hoping to get some more of these PCs in the summer assuming they arent phased out.

they have some good deals at cpc, misco and suchlike places. you should get 17"... they are cheap... less than £100 defo.

Shame, last time I checked 17"s were actually cheaper than 15"s, supply and demand I guess.

 

All 15"s which you get now will be 1024x768, and excluding the unheard-of Czechoslovakian things, I don't think there's much to choose from in terms of brand (I'm sure I read somewhere once that there's only 2 actual manufacturers anyway, and everyone is rebadging them), so see who does a black one and then buy based on price/availability.

 

Personally, I prefer silver ones though - they still look good alongside black base units but aren't quite so imposing to look at.

First off, just make sure that it is the backlight that has gone and not something really trivial like a capacitor on the inverter board which can be repaired for pennies with no technical experience necessary.

As much a dab handy I am with a soldering iron, I havent a clue where to being, or even how, testing for this problem.
