Scifigirl Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Hi We are having some issues here. We want to start using spiceworks for our helpdesk with our incidents being emailed to a school email address that spiceworks then picks up and turns into tickets. we have spiceworks hosted here and the outgoing settings seems to work fine- I get all the test emails from spiceworks with smtp set up. However I cant seem to get the incoming settings right - I don't know if its something to do with the fact we have KLZ email, or ports being blocked or what. If I try the imap settings I have been given the error I get says the port is not available. if I try the exchange settings it tells me the authentication is incorrect- but I have checked this. The spiceworks installation is currently on a PC with the firewall, and windows defender and anti virus turned off (bad I know, but what I was advised as a fix) Any help much appreciated.
localzuk Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Have you been given an imap address to work with by your provider? A quick search brings up that KLZ is Exchange based - and by default imap isn't enabled in Exchange as far as I know. 1
Scifigirl Posted October 9, 2015 Author Posted October 9, 2015 yes I was. it didn't seem to work. I have since been told -- i.e. this morning after 3 days of waiting-- they don't support spiceworks. very frustrating.
localzuk Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 The way I got round that, back in the day, was to set up an email address in a Google Apps for Education account, then in our internal email system set up auto-forward and delete on the account staff would be contacting. Then, Spiceworks just connected to that external Google Apps for Education account instead. We've moved to Office 365 down here now, so I've been able to eliminate it but it worked for us for 3 years. 1
Scifigirl Posted October 9, 2015 Author Posted October 9, 2015 Did spiceworks then set up each ticket for each individual person who sent it in or did the auto forward mess that up??
localzuk Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Did spiceworks then set up each ticket for each individual person who sent it in or did the auto forward mess that up?? Did it for each person. I think there was something in the rule I set up. It was a redirect more than a forward. 1
Scifigirl Posted October 9, 2015 Author Posted October 9, 2015 Did it for each person. I think there was something in the rule I set up. It was a redirect more than a forward. ahhh we have been told that we cannot redirect mail outside of KLZ
localzuk Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 ahhh we have been told that we cannot redirect mail outside of KLZ Only remaining option - just tell people to use an external email address for it. Or shout at KLZ, as they are stuck in the 90s.

RJohnson91 Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 FYI we had to configure and use Stunnel For example ... # GLOBAL OPTIONS client = yes output = stunnel-log.txt debug = 0 taskbar = no # SERVICE-LEVEL OPTIONS [sSMTP] accept = 127.0.0.1:25 connect = smtp.YourProvider:Their Port protocol = smtp [POP3] accept = 127.0.0.1:110 connect = YourProvider:Their Port
