TomHD Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Hello All, Can I set password complexity rules to different user groups/types in CC4? Thanks, TomHD
foofighterjim Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Only any help if you are using Server 2008, the answer is yes but only with fine grained policy. I had a quick look over the summer but didn't have a chance to actually do anything with it. TEC3639523 is what you are after which basically links to: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc770842.aspx 1
TomHD Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 2008R2, will have a look later and let you know how I get on
Max_Power Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 We did successfully do this a number of years ago on CC4 but found as certain students got older we needed to start changing rules and groups and caused more of a headache to administer. This resulted in us changing the mechanism and applying to the whole school. The policy is set-up as a default domain policy and applies to everyone under computer configuration-windows settings-security settings-password policy. This applies to all users on the network which are from students from ages 5 years old and up, causes a lot less issues in changing groups and editing the configuration as students get older. Here we have applied the minimum password length policy as 9 and also the password must meet complexity requirements. Works well even with the younger students. Either way is possible on CC4. 1
TomHD Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 found as certain students got older we needed to start changing rules and groups and caused more of a headache to administer I figured this would be the case, I may go the same route as you and apply the same policy across the board.
