[sims] CTF Import failing for name change student

Has anyone had this issue?

 

We have a student who has joined us in sixth form. Our sixth form administrator created her manually on SIMS when she started, and we have now received the CTF from her previous school.

 

I am running an import (add data for existing pupil) but it is failing. I am pretty sure that the reason for this is that the student changed her legal name over the summer holidays, so her legal name on SIMS and her legal name in the CTF do not match.

 

I assume I can either (a) change her legal name on SIMS, import the CTF, then change her legal name back, or (b) edit the CTF in notepad to include her new legal name. Can anyone advise whether each of these approaches would work, and which is the most sensible? Obviously trying tog et this sorted out today before census tomorrow!

Have you had the patch to enable the CTF matching scales?

 

It makes importing students so much easier in my experience.

 

The other approach which is pretty easy is to edit the CTF in notepad to match SIMS (or edit the name in SIMS to match the CTF - whichever gives you the correct name at the end of the day).
