Hi all

Is there any chance someone would PM me the link to the latest installable ISO please (Summer 2 2013 according to My Account)?

I've put in a request by email as Capita won't process it over the phone, but I could really do with it sooner rather then later.

Thanks

Sure, would you like a photo of @PhilNeal debit card whilst I'm at it?

Seriously though, get it from Capita. If it need it like yesterday, you've messed up. You never rush building a server. You'll only regret it later.

Capita are not going to pick up email at the moment.

Something catastrophic has happened at their end.

I got sorted thanks, I wasn't building a new server I needed to restore a backup to a dummy server to compare some data hence the sooner rather then later.

Last time I wanted a SIMS installable release, the download link and password were available through Supportnet through the KB (obviously!). Not so any more because that would be too simple so just back off a bit.

If the helpdesk had pointed me in the right direction to start off with this post wouldn't exist.

"experiencing connectivity issues" - guess they rushed to moved everything to the cloud and forgot to upgrade their internet pipe or setting up a secondary site in\near London as failover where you don't get connectivity issues.

@Cache - you not virtualized?

Our broadband supplier is capita (via our lea) and they have had no ends of problems over the past couple of months with broadband and email services. Which is why we are about to give notice (as are all 3 of our primaries that we support). Some of the broadband support team are also infuriating!!

Yep, but wanted it isolated from the rest of the network which has all been done now plus it let me test the recovery process.

Not quite sure I full understand, I thought you could just restore a VM to a isolated network? Failing that you could just restore the db as simsBK then point your SIMS at it - someone did actually do a document about doing it after the backup completes to test it, also gives you a dedicated reporting/training/testing environment without much work. Also you've got the setup files already - if your s3 it can extract them? Meh :getmecoat:

S3 doesn't have the 2012 SQL Express installer as far as I'm aware available to extract nor SIMSinst, but I'm prepared to admit that I am wrong. In my head for what i wanted to achieve, which I didn't think was unreasonable was to get an installable ISO to build a new machine up for this data checking process.

It's not me doing the data checking, I'm mearly making it available to somebody in an isolated state. If it was just me it would be an isolated VM on the network.

Anyway, it's done now and I know how to locate the installers in the future - enough said.

I did prefer the KB, i can't say i like the new system where you have to download files with the information in and then re-download if they are updated. However, in this instance, it's quite a useful resource:-

Not sure how you got the issue resolved, but if you can get to MyAccount and search for "ISO" you should find an entry for a document entitled "SIMS Product Download Links" - it's a terrific Word document with all the latest info on installable and upgrade releases along with the links and password.

Yep a very helpful lady from Distribution pointed me in that direction so I have it bookmarked for future reference should I need it again.

If the KB had pointed me there that would have been fine, but I still don't get why the FMS KB has a download link on it and the SIMS one doesn't. Anyway, feedback was left on how unhelpful the KB was.
