StoneGroup_Community Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Just heard from within Stone that they have had their credit lines pulled by the major credit insurers and now the distributors. Testing times ahead now I think. Hi Tony, Initially when our dormant holding companies were put into administration on the 18 August, there were some problems with credit insurance agencies. When a business within a group is put into administration, the credit insurers put the shutters down pretty quickly while they figure out what's going on. We'd made some great progress in this area until a couple of days ago and the article in The Register. Our CEO Simon has spoken with CRN to put our view across in response. Our accounts have just been signed off by a third party auditor. I'll post a link up later on this thread. If you're into that kind of thing you can take a read, or if your Head/Bursar/Business Manager wants some comfort, then you can send them over to them. The performance is really strong and we're really proud of what we've achieved as a business. Hopefully this will provide the assurance that everyone will need. Cheers, Daley 1
Stone_Charli Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Hi guys, The Register have now posted a retraction to correct the factual inaccuracies in their original report: CORRECTION: Stone Computers • The Channel We hope that this will now clear up any confusion and reassure you that Stone Computers Ltd is not affected by the process that Stone Bidco is going through. If you do have any more questions, please speak to your account manager or feel free to PM me or Daley (@StoneComputers) directly. Thanks, Charli 1
pingleict Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Just heard from within Stone that they have had their credit lines pulled by the major credit insurers and now the distributors. Testing times ahead now I think. One post from someone who's just joined, I smell a ... We've used Stone Computers for many years and have always found them to be one of our best suppliers. Their support is excellent. They have also been really resourceful in helping us with kit from their Encore division when we've had to take the refurbished route because of severe financial constraints. We've had some terrific deals. We still find them to be personable and helpful. You don't get the feeling they are just out to get your money - far from it. Therefore, when this story popped up, we were concerned because we wouldn't want something bad to happen to Stone. As the story has unfolded and still continues to do so, it seem obvious to us that some are stirring up mischief and unfortunately others will believe it. I hope those mischief-makers get exposed for what they are and we wish Stone the very best. 1
Popular Post Stone_Charli Posted November 30, 2015 Popular Post Posted November 30, 2015 Hi All, Just to close the loop on this one - a High Court judge today approved the administration of Stone Bidco. Stone Computers Ltd, our trading company, remains unaffected by this process. You can read about it here: Stone claims victory after court hearing - 30 Nov 2015 - CRN UK News As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to speak to your account manager or PM myself or Daley (@StoneComputers) Thanks, Charli 7
Asgard Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 We have just short of 1200 Stone PCs and about 300 Laptop's, so this is a welcome note for us - although we did get a heads up from our Account Manager Darren Dodd. We have been with stone for years and in that time have had two account managers Daz and Anthony Mellor. I can't fault them [emoji106] 2
ajevanu2 Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 (edited) Hi, I have had a large number of Stone equipment over the last three years. Been impressed with Edu Sales team and my account manager, Joe Shore. Helpful, gets the job done and I always know I've got the support at end of the line if needed / engineer next working day. Price is reasonable for the equipment and they at least don't bombard you with sales calls unlike other companies out there.... Sadly the world we live in with holding companies and the wonder of the media / internet can cause rumours to fly about... Glad Stone are here to stay and I can get some new equipment ordered next week.... Edited December 1, 2015 by ajevanu2 2
