Here are a few photos I took last night. I wasn't happy with the last one, it was set t quite a long exposure so came out a but blurry and I didn't get a chance to go back out and snap some more.

I sat outside last night and watched.

I wanted to take some photos, but I also didn't want to wake the kids up trying to get the kit all together, so I didn't bother :-(

I should have got it out and set up in the evening, but I forgot.

Sat in the back garden in the New Forest, miles from any street lights and watched it from 3am-4am. Absolutely beautiful, and as a bonus in the darkness, millions of extra stars out that you can only really see when in the shadow, especially facing south towards Orion that had just started to rise above the horizon.

...I should have got it out and set up in the evening, but I forgot.

 

This is what I did, I went out in the evening to get the settings right, then left it on the tripod. Set alarm for 2:30 for the partial then my son woke me up at around 4 (he's 5 months) so went back out and got the total.

It was a Canon Rebel XS with a 300mm lens. First two were shot using 1/200, f8 and ISO100. The last one was a 1 second exposure with f5.6 and a high ISO1600.

 

I have a 700mm scope but it was a friends camera so didn't have the T-Ring and adapter to pop it on. Should have been a much better shot if I had.

Doh! I should have noticed that. I thought the moon-rise at about 7pm was very spectacular with the atmosphere lens effect making it look HUGE and red
