Mass Edit of Students Storage Quotas

Hi

 

Any help appreciated with this one

 

I am looking to edit on mass the storage area of our Art students within college from 150mb to 2gb. Now these students already have quotas and I was hoping to do it using a CSV and Powershell script if at all possible but am open to any ideas? I think in the past they have been done individually but theres no chance im going through changing 300 students. Cant really find an easy way to do it any ideas

The two cmdlets you'll want to look at are Get-FSRMQuota and Set-FSRMQuota. See what format the quotas are currently in and then you should be able to do something like this:

 

$Students = import-csv c:\photostudents.csv
Get-FSRMQuota | Where { $students -contains $_.Name} | Set-FSRMQuota -size 2GB -whatif

 

I'd run it once with the -WhatIf there and make sure it's going to run okay (no errors) and then remove it and run it again. The bit in the Where box will need changing to some identifying parameter that you can link with the csv, we don't have any quotas so I can't quickly do work out what it would be.

If I remember rightly can't you just set up a template and then apply that to the student folders you want. I suppose it depends on how you have the folders set up. Are all the student folders you want to change in one folder. If so you apply the template to the top level folder.

When I try to do this I get the message, "Quota information cannot be added. There is already a quota entry for this User"
