ReverentCreature Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 Has anyone packaged Notebook 15 and can help? I'm struggling to link the gallery content. Using the SMART Install Manager I have set in the MST file the following: Choose how people have access to the gallery? : "Installed on each computer" How will the gallery be found at runtime? : "Same folder as the installer itself" (SCCM recommended) Where should the install package put the Gallery? : "In the default location" (C:\ProgramData\SMART Technologies) So imported into the RM Management Coinsole is as follows: D:\RMNetwork\RMManage\Repoman\filestore1\c95c08d380224be196864278494daa89 Contains the MSI / MST / INI Contains the folder structure SMART Essentials for Educators\Gallery Data Files I unzipped the gallery and extracted it to that folder from the gallery link on the SMART website under the V15 MSI download. The package is still installing without the gallery: C:\ProgramData\SMART Technologies just contains empty folders. Thanks in advance
TechMonkey Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 I've not done 15 yet but is it worth pointing the gallery to a network share?
ReverentCreature Posted September 18, 2015 Author Posted September 18, 2015 I tried making the MST with How will the gallery be found at runtime? : In the following network folder: "\\ncp-sr-001\rmpublic\SMART Resources\Gallery" Still didn't like it.
apearson Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 No help I'm afraid, but, over the years I have never managed to get the gallery to install on to the local computer hard drive as part of an MS I install. Pointing to a network share is no good for us, because staff want to use the gallery at home. I would love to know how to do this.
ReverentCreature Posted September 30, 2015 Author Posted September 30, 2015 (edited) I decided to ditch the MST file method. I have managed to deploy it successfully with the help of an extracting EXE created through 7zip (RM's Advice). You need to zip the Gallery Essentials and Lesson Activity Toolkit into one EXE. You don't need 7zip deployed to clients. It works by itself. You only need to install it once to make the archive. How to Use 7Zip to Create Self Extracting excutables - 5 Easy Steps SMART NOTEBOOK GALLERY Command Line Arguments for the EXE package: -o"C:\ProgramData\SMART Technologies" -y (NB: No space after the -o in the above command.) gerardsweeney Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 We started deploying SMART 15 to the one school we have that insists on using them over the pretty much issue-less-for-8-years Promethean boards. SMART 15's installer appears to be pretty poor when migrating from earlier versions. It's SUPPOSED to remove the previous versions. We're running into issues where apparently IDENTICAL PCs have "something" it can't uninstall, and you end up in a state with a PC with some SMART 11 components left over. I'm still investigating to see if I need to write some additional scripting to do the uninstall for it, but between this, the licence changes, the gallery issues, the stupidly massive installer file - I've long since lost patience with all things SMART related. (Anyone got a grumpy cat picture? )
