itgeek Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Hi We have recently blocked all USB devices and only allowed encrypted devices on the network. I am looking to setup a VPN solutions so staff can access sims and other applications at home over a secure connection. Please can anyone advise on a secure solution? Thanks
jtoland Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 We use openvpn but if you want something more secure look at microsofts azure they do a vpn solution that i am looking into for work
edutech4schools Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Remote desktop services or Web apps are both built in to Windows server and can be very secure, depending on the options you choose in the gui.
FN-GM Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Direct Access is great as the only thing the end user needs to do is connect to the internet. No need to connect via a VPN app.
ITGURU Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I've set up Remote App with SIMS , Office etc on so that staff can have access from home. Safer than user a VPN, although I do use the built in windows VPN RRAS for remote access and management.
teejay Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I would go with a Remote Desktop solution for staff, much safer especially if they're using it on their own equipment. Also performance is much better with heavy loads at busy times, such as when teachers are doing reports.
