EOP licenses for Office 365 and on prem mailboxes?

Hi,

My school has approx 800 students and 200 staff and we're starting a Hybrid migration that's likely to see the student mailboxes migrate to O365 and all staff mailboxes to remain on prem in Exchange 2010. We're planning to point our MX and mail flow through EOP. I understand that you don't need an EOP license for the O365 mailboxes but I've read the following warning on TechNet:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn393964(v=exchg.150).aspx

"You may need to purchase EOP licenses for each on-premises mailbox that receives messages that are first delivered to EOP and then routed through the Exchange Online organization. Contact your Microsoft reseller for more information."

Does anyone know if this applies to education? If not, does anyone know where this is formally documented as I need to see it in black-and-white.

Thanks.
