Does your LEA/Council IT Team do the same as mine? They seem to include everyone's email address in the 'To' field for emails going to all techies in the area- and there are a lot of us!

I mean sometimes it's useful to have other techie's email addresses, but I'm sure not every techie wants everyone knowing their email address!

Sane practice is to use a mailing list system (take your pick, there's plenty). Or put everyone in the BCC. Information leakage like this is considered a security issue in some industries.

Even more fun when they're asking for a response and people start hitting Reply All

As far as I'm concerned, it's impolite to do this, and the courteous approach is to BCC.

They should use BCC as one day they will slip up and end up on the receiving end of the ICO's wrath. It has happened in the media a lot lately as sending visible addresses in CC and TO when others shouldn't see it is considered a leak of a customer database.

Plus, BCC stops said E-Mail reply storms. :)

Indeed, this is the way I was taught and is the way I have done it in the past. Even when I have to send moany emails to several members of staff at a time I BCC them instead of stitching them up to their peers- it's just courtesy!
