Hey,

So, we've been approached by Learnpad and they look pretty phenomenal.

I have a couple of questions though :D

1) Can you re-root them and install custom images? Clearly they're already rooted and running Learnpad as a custom image but could someone theoretically get into recovery and fiddle?

2) Do they work with Chromecast?

3) Anything else that's bad that explodes?

Alright so answer for #1) No, chromecast is not officially supported (I'm still going to try and get it working) - the official line is that ClassConnect is superior to anything that Chromecast can do :D

Does anyone run the local/caching server that can comment on whether ClassConnect runs better with it?

I'd like to do #1 too!

In fact, I'd like to remove the learnpad software altogether and just run them as android tablets!

Do you know if this is possible and if so, how it's done?

We were early adopters of these and got the poop first addition.

Sadly, once bitten twice shy, we're off to ipads.

There are 20 of these sat in cupboards gathering dust, I'm just hoping there's a way to turn them into simple web browsers without the learnpad gunk.

Sorry, I hope this isn't hijacking the thread, I can start another if that would be easier. :)

Yes, at last school we had first edition as well...same opinion..poo! Charge connectors feeble and very poor.performance once Learnpad on (not much better without), we did remove software but cant remember now how we did it, just call Learnpad support and they will advise. I know the school did buy some of the later ones but dobt know how they got on as I left 😁

Not sure if it the solution you require, but I run my learnpad ( a spare one from our class set) in "SuperAdmin"mode. This runs then without the learnpad front end.

I have not tried rooting one yet, it is not my kit to brick!
