Add printer via IP

Hey

 

Trying to add a printer onto a mac mini osx 10.8.5, I have to add it via IP and it does detect it when I put the IP address in, the problem is the driver I have installed the right driver (plus others to see if they worked) but it can't detect it! I don't have a great knowledge of macs. Any idea what I could do ?

What brand of printer? Have you tried using the "use" option where you can select the driver? You want to select "select software" then go to search and put in the model number of the printer. You should find it there but if you do not I'd try removing the print drivers and reinstall the one you need.

As a last resort and this will remove all printers and drivers ( I believe - if @Carter can correct me if I am wrong on this point ) and then try and re install the printer after wards

Working now, before it didn't have anything appearing in the software list driver wise. Just had our half termly power test so had to restart mac and once it powered on low and behold everything was there and now working! Good ol' turn it off and on again!

Ya this will reset the printers but it will keep the drivers etc. It's just removing all of the setup printers.
