Has anyone managed to get an internally hosted sharepoint 2013 SLG installation to authenticate using ADFS?

 

If so do you have any advice or a guide i could follow?

I've managed to get as far as logging in using ADFS but instead of directing to the SLG web application i just get a message after login saying "Let us know why you need access to this site."

Sounds like you don't have required Group Permissions in SIMS - there are SLG groups you need to be a member of. Also, depending how it's set up, if you're not teaching staff then you may not see much - it doesn't really have a setup for non-teaching staff. Best to create a fake teacher account assigned as a co-teacher to a few classgroups in the timetable and use that.

 

If you fill it in with a reason when it asks, then IIRC somewhere our IT dept get a notification to approve the request.
