[sims] Solus3 backup via script

Hi all

 

Would anyone be able to advise how to backup the Solus 3 database? Backups work using the Dbattach GUI but fail when trying to run via a batch file. The same command works fine for backing up SIMS.

 

DBATTACH.EXE /SERVER="ADMIN-SERVER\SIMS2012" /DATABASE="solus3_deployment_server" /USER="SA" /PASSWORD="SchoolPassword" /BACKUP /AUTO

If memory serves, it's because the SOLUS3 backup via command line does not have the date and time auto included in the backup file name. I believe it just calls it "solus3_deployment_server.bak", and if a backup already exists, it falls over trying to create another backup with the same name. Try this and see how you get on:

 

DBATTACH.EXE /BACKUP /AUTO /SERVER=MYSERVER\SIMS2012 /DATABASE=solus3_deployment_server /USER=sa /PASSWORD=MYSAPASSWORD /PATH="C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.SIMS2012\MSSQL\Backup\SOLUS3_Deployment_Server_%date:~-4,4%%date:~-7,2%%date:~0,2%_%time:~0,2%%time:~3,2%%time:~6,2%.bak"

Not tried your suggested command yet but my problem was that it wasn't generating any backup file at all.
