Windows 10 Failing to install .NET Framework 3.5

I have recently installed Windows 10 and i am having trouble installing .NET Framework 3.5.

 

the error i get is below.

 

Windows couldnt complete the reqested changes.

windows couldnt find the required file to complete the requested changes. make sure you're connected to internet, and try again.

 

Error code: 0x800F081F

 

 

could sombody shine some light on this?

This worked for me in Windows 8.1. It may work in Windows 10.

 

- Open Registry Editor

- Go to COMPUTER\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\POLICIES\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\WINDOWSUPDATE\AU

- Change 'UseWUServer' value data to 0

- Restart computer

- Install .NET Framework 3.5

- Change 'UseWUServer' value data back to 1 in Registry Editor

Are you behind a proxy, that may be blocking it.

 

Windows doesn't come with the files present if it's not installed, they're either on the installation disk or downloaded from the Internet as part of the wizard

 

You could insert the installation DVD or mount an ISO, then at a command prompt type:

 

DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /All /source:d:\sources\sxs

 

(where d: is the letter of the source disk).

 

That will install it and use the files on the media as opposed to downloading them.
