Curiously, it has no provisioned Modern Apps at all. That includes Edge. I can't even see the Windows Store. It leaves the whole thing looking rather bare bones.

Great for those who don't want to use Modern stuff I suppose but a bit a sod otherwise.

Yeah it was always intended to be very stripped down, it's meant to only receive rolled up updates, and no new features really like Edge. I didn't realise the store would be gone though, but I suppose it's meant for machines that run specific software and nothing else.

I like it because it obviously hasn't got all the useless apps on which you'd have to take off.

I wonder if it's possible to 'pinch' the Edge .appx package from another version of Win10, or a Win10 DVD then use powershell to add it?

Lack of Edge is the only downside as interested staff at the school like it, but I'd rather roll out the LTSB as opposed to manually stripping down a different version.

You should have the opportunity to have the full version where you can start with everything and strip it down, or you should be able to add bits to LTSB, starting with nothing and building it up.

Just installing it on VM now. I like windows 10 but the apps infuriate me. They have no place on a enterprise/education machine. If LTSB is as cut down as it should be then my work laptop is being rebuilt.

Why Microsoft insist on the stupid horrible apps is beyond me. They add no value and serve to be a real PITA! grrr Rant over!

I wonder if you can install Edge, or another modern app on LTSB from a full version DVD where the source files are.

LTSB is the way to go. It's basically Server 2016 without the server bits. (Like 2012R2 without all the Win8.1 bits)

My only reservation with going LTSB is obviously not getting the new features/updates. They should of released an Education - without the crap modern apps version!

I'm sure on a full version you can run:

get-appxpackage | remove-appxpackage (or similar) in PowerShell

Worked a treat! Thank you.

Now to find how to get rid of that bleeding Edge rubbish!
