Nameserver IP issue

Hi

 

Ive just added 2 x 2012r2 DCs with DNS and in the properties of most of the zones, the IP address isn't resolving for the local host. In the picture below, im on svr-vm-dc1 (2012r2) and the IP address for the svr-vm-dc1 is showing as unknown. Its the same for svr-vm-dc2 (2012r2) however, its fine when i check on the 2008r2 DC.

 

Any ideas?

On the Zone Transfers tab (per Zone, per server) check that servers can replicate data.

 

Secondly check the static IP configuration of each server. It should point to itself first, then your others servers second, third etc...

The Zone transfers are not enable. Should they be?

 

Also in terms of the IP address for DNS in the network adapter, it points to another DNS as the primary and then itself as the secondary as per many recommendations.

Yes Zone Transfers should be enabled either for all servers, or specific IPs you specify.
