Paid_Peanuts Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Can anyone point me in the direction of a good JBOD? I was looking at the MD1420 on the dell website - however it comes in quite expensive. My intention is to connect to my backup server (Veeam) via SAS using an external RAID card in the host (i.e. PERC H830). I want to populate the JBOD myself with large 2/3/4 TB drives. I am after a fairly cost effective JBOD to allow me to do this, does anyone have any ideas or have something similar? Any advice greatly appreciated.
IanT Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 We have quite a few HP D2600 (Discontinued) and D3600 connected via SAS http://www8.hp.com/uk/en/products/disk-enclosures/product-detail.html?oid=6293995 Are you going to use this for B2D?
Paid_Peanuts Posted July 15, 2015 Author Posted July 15, 2015 Yes the intention was to pass through the jbod storage to Veeam to do backup to disk.
Norphy Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Netstor stuff is pretty good. We have one of their thunderbolt arrays but they sell regular jbod arrays too http://www.netstor.com.tw/_03/products_rackmount.htm Comes fully populated with empty drive sleds to which is more than you can say about certain other manufacturers
Paid_Peanuts Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 Comes fully populated with empty drive sleds to which is more than you can say about certain other manufacturers Absolutely! Although i did find a supplier of Dell sleds at £15 each which isn't too bad. I'll check them out.
Paid_Peanuts Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 Netstor stuff is pretty good. Out of interest where did you bu your Netstor stuff from?
Norphy Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 SPAN.COM - Data Storage Specialists - London, UK - since 1994 They don't have the full range on their site but give them a call and I'm sure they'll be able to get what they don't have listed.
