6Foot2 Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 I have been given an RM All In One [No manual or handbook] I have successfully added 256 Mb of RAM: That was easy. I would like to change the HDD for a bigger one, but I can’t see how to get into where the HDD is stored [the base I am assuming] It seems to be riveted closed. Can anyone tell me what I am missing/where I am going wrong? Thanks.
meastaugh1 Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Can you just clarify whether it's an All-in-one or an RM One?
6Foot2 Posted January 4, 2008 Author Posted January 4, 2008 It is an RM All-in-one: Desktop not laptop RM One.
meastaugh1 Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Nah, that's an RM Mobile one. All in one RM One.
crc-ict Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Are you sure they're rivets and not Security Torx bolts? We got an RM One that came with these in the back panel which covers where the leads go in. Had to phone RM and ask them to send us the driver! These look a bit like rivets, but they are actually Torx heads (you know, the little star shaped hole in the top of the screw) but with a rod in the centre of the star so you need a hollow bit to undo it rather than a regular one. If it's those, RS and CPC both do sets of security torx bits for a couple of quid or so. HTH Chris
6Foot2 Posted January 4, 2008 Author Posted January 4, 2008 Nah, that's an RM Mobile one. All in one RM One. Whoops! My mistake. It is the first option listed: The RM All-In-One. Thanks for sticking with me.
PeterW Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Looking at it from the back at the base there should be 3x screws top left, top right and top center (of the base). If you remove either the top left or top right hand screws you should be able to slide the black covers off.
meastaugh1 Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 I think you'll need the two side panels off. You'll need the little allen key with the hole in to get it off.
