Sam_Brown Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Morning All, We had an old DECT phone system for our cordless phones and moved to VOIP (wifi) a little while back. The desktop phones have been fine but the VOIP over wifi hasn't been great and the company is looking to replace with a newer DECT system. Previously we only required 16 base stations to get full coverage over the site. We're talking edge of playing field and halfway down the road coverage! The survey yesterday came back as us needing 50+ DECT base stations to cover the same ground. Can anyone shed any light on why this would be? Are we getting ripped off or does newer DECT work on a higher frequency (ergo less range)? Also confused over the requirement for these newer DECT base stations needing to sync as opposed to being controlled from a central controller. Sounds like if one of the base stations goes down you could end up with the entire thing falling over if you only have coverage to one other base station near by. Anyone shed any light?!
karldenton Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 We have DECT phones on VoIP (not over wifi). I've not seen it where you can "move around base stations". We have around 3 phones connected to a base station and that covers us for a 2 story nursery.
