We have all the staff laptops encrypted using windows 7 enterprise and bitlocker. Now just caught our tech imaging the new laptops to windows 7 enterprise, we have MS ESS. Now I know win 8.1 has bitlocker built in hasn't it? Sure it has..... but how can we implement this similar to the setup we have with win 7 which has a usb flashdrive key to unlock the laptops?

would we need to use the staffs office 365 windows login to unlock the laptop in 8.1 or is there someway to still use a usb key to unlock?

Also, if for instance a laptop was broken somehow and there was data on the HD, could this be retrieved by swapping the HD into another machine and inserting the usb key to unlock (in win 7 enterprise with bitlocker) and also would that be possible using 8.1 with the built in encryption?

Dont really know much about enryption to be honest.....

You can't use Windows 8.1 to authenticate to Office 365 directly. Windows 8.1 will authenticate against AD, Microsoft Online Accounts and Locally. Microsoft Accounts are not Office 365 accounts.
