If i was to virtualise either freepbx or 3CX, what hardware would i need for the ISDN lines that we currently use? I think we currently have 8 ISDN lines.

As far as I am aware there is no way to get a VM to see an ISDN card on the host. Also you may have timing issues in asterisk runing in a VM.

We are going with the hosted Orbtalk system in the end, easier for me anyway but still need to setup the VLAN first. The cost per line is slightly more than we are paying Virgin but will be easier to add new lines when needed.

You can hand off PCI and USB devices in most modern virtual environments .

Plug a Sangoma A200 ISDN card into a VMWare host. Last time I checked it crashed the hypervisor. Things might of improved with 6.0 so YMMV. No idea about Xen or KVM either.
