techie08 Posted October 29, 2015 Author Posted October 29, 2015 If i was to virtualise either freepbx or 3CX, what hardware would i need for the ISDN lines that we currently use? I think we currently have 8 ISDN lines.
Geoff Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 As far as I am aware there is no way to get a VM to see an ISDN card on the host. Also you may have timing issues in asterisk runing in a VM.
Jobos Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 We are going with the hosted Orbtalk system in the end, easier for me anyway but still need to setup the VLAN first. The cost per line is slightly more than we are paying Virgin but will be easier to add new lines when needed.

Also you may have timing issues in asterisk runing in a VM. You can hand off PCI and USB devices in most modern virtual environments . VMware KB: Configuring VMDirectPath I/O pass-through devices on a VMware ESX or VMware ESXi host Xen PCI Passthrough - Xen Hyper-V support possibly coming in 2016.
Geoff Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Plug a Sangoma A200 ISDN card into a VMWare host. Last time I checked it crashed the hypervisor. Things might of improved with 6.0 so YMMV. No idea about Xen or KVM either.
