RM - Filtering by User

Morning All,

 

Anyone part of any test programs with RM to know if this actually works as it sounds and is any good?

Granular filtering by user

 

The User Based Filtering feature available with RM SafetyNet will sync with your active directory so that all school users will be visible through the RM SafetyNet administrator portal giving you more control over how your school filtering works. This new level of customisation will enable the administrator to group users together by year group, key stage, after school club etc. and give a set group bespoke access to certain websites at certain times of day.

I heard about this a while ago from our LEA bods, looks good to me. I wonder if they'll give us some access to the logs also. That'd be good!

Highly doubt it! More likely a tool will be installed on one of your servers which will upload user data.

Not sure how they'd know who is accessing the data that way though? If machines are all behind a NAT device (or I'm guessing even without) there's nothing to authenticate with to know who's accessing it? Unless it's like a local proxy application

Or it could be tied to RM Unify... Just Guessing.

I'm surprised its taken them (and other ISP's) this long to actually do it all in the cloud. We've been doing it for years now as standard. It's not exactly rocket science.......
