talksr Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Hi, I recently used a trial of Kiwi Syslog Service manager and was quite impressed, but it is quite an expensive product to buy. Does anyone have any recommendations on good Syslog programs out there. I don't believe server 2012 has anything which built in which can help.
CyberNerd Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 This works pretty well: Free Splunk Downloads and Software Trials 1
ITGURU Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 I've used Syslog Watcher Powerful Syslog Server for Windows - Syslog Watcher | SnmpSoft Website for a number of years and find it good value for money. All Switches/Devices send their logs to the syslog server, and it can be configured to send emails on specific conditions as well as sending the data received to SQL Server for interrogation. The program has saved me a few times where by students have looped back the network - When it occurs, the switch logs this, sends the entry to SYSLOG, it then emails me the message which tells me which switch and ports that it has occurred on. Check it out if you haven't already.
howartp Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Slightly old thread, but for future reference we use PRTG which includes a syslog receiver, and is free for up to 100 nodes.
