The Leys is a thriving independent co-educational School established in 1875, for both boarders and day pupils, in Cambridge City Centre. This is a permanent, full time role, working with a committed team to ensure that The Leys remains at the cutting edge of IT provision in education.

 

The role involves providing first and second line IT support, operating the Service Desk, installation and maintenance of servers & services; deployment of applications, operating systems & client devices, maintenance of Ethernet networks and a BYOD system. You will be assisting the IT Operations Manager in a variety of tasks including server provisioning, backup management and maintenance of desktop operating systems.

 

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in providing first and second line IT support, maintaining and supporting audio-visual technologies and office productivity applications. Excellent troubleshooting and fault-finding skills are required. An enthusiastic approach to learning new skills, excellent communication skills and a team-player ethic are essential to this position, plus the ability to self-start, prioritise and work to deadlines.

Main Purpose of the role

Providing first and second line IT support to The Leys community. Assisting the Operations Manager in building, deploying and maintaining IT services.

 

Person Specification

  • Relevant professional qualifications (eg Microsoft, Cisco, Citrix, VMware)
  • Experience of scripting in Powershell & VBS
  • At least 3 years’ experience of providing first and second line IT support
  • Maintenance and support of audio-visual technologies
  • Maintenance & support of office productivity applications
  • Microsoft IIS installation and maintenance
  • Supporting Windows servers and clients (Windows 7+, Windows Server 2008+)
  • Support & troubleshooting of wired and wireless networks
  • Microsoft operating systems build and distribution
  • Active Directory User Management
  • Backup & Restore technologies
  • Client and Server Antivirus and Security
  • Excellent Troubleshooting and fault finding skills (Hardware, OS and Application)
  • Updating and Patching of Windows Clients, Windows Servers and Applications (WSUS and SCCM)

 

    Salary: £26K to £28K depending on experience & qualifications. Benefits include free meals (as appropriate) whilst on duty, contributory pension scheme (subject to eligibility), use of the School Sports Complex and onsite parking.
