ok...

is it me or are limited edition games just Bo11ox?

I go in to second hand stores and see Ltd edition figures/boxes/steelbooks years later and they are THE SAME price as normal boxed games.

I ask this because if you see it BUY it! the batman one with the car....oh no wait the publishers pulled it due to them realising it wasn't worth the 180 quid pricetag!

I have seen Ltd edition COD (with Night vision goggles) for £40 admittedly it is probably 20 quid more than you can buy the game...BUT you are getting NIGHT VISION GOGGLES with it!

I wouldn't have thought you'd be getting the night vision goggles with it for £40...

"Limited Edition" is a bit of a push, I've never struggled to buy one I've wanted, certainly don't seem too limited...

Not sure what your question is to be honest? You don't have to buy them if you don't want to, some people will if it's a game they love with some nice collectible extras.

Are you? Because, a lot of the time people take the stuff they want out of the LE/CE.

I'm assuming you're on about this.

Notice the price? £140. [$350 on the US site]

Should have bought it, if it's that.

I buy LE/CE versions sometimes. Depends on what's in it and how much it is. Generally, I'll grab the LE/CE for PC if I'm choosing PC over console. [usually same price, but more stuff]

The last one I bought was the CE of Bloodborne. I <3 steelbooks. And artbooks.

I've also got a couple of AC LEs for the artbooks.

And the Dedsec edition of Watch_Dogs is super cool.

Le EDIT: No wait... the ACTUAL last LE I bought was the legitimately limited physical copy of Senran Kargura Sinovi Versus.

'Limited Edition' products are mainly just for the fans of the games themselves similarly to the 'Digital Deluxe' copies you can get of games like battlefield where you get some extra perks and in some games you get a title or image showing you paid extra for the perks. Sometimes it is worth the extra money but it all depends whether you want to pay the extra money for collectables.

you can buy it from here: (£58 quid or best offer) treble your money ;) or sell it to me in a year for a tenner :p

modern warfare prestige | eBay

I also noticed the care package on your link...£58 quid! not really good investment on the initial 150 quid

or the prestige edition 30 quid NEW?

or you could get yourself a Call of Duty: Black Ops Prestige Ed (M)(Street 11/ for 58 quid as well! - no idea how it would work with the goggles :)

This is typical of what I am referring to...

now remember guys, you are reading this because you like games! not because you have a computer or work with computers but because you are subscribed to a gaming section within the forum:

lets go back in time you see this item being released:

you think" actually I am going to buy that, I love Assassins creed and to think for a bit more money I am going to get something Ltd Edition!"

WOW a Medallion from the Assassins order! surely that's going to be worth something!

2 years later -

Buy Assassin's Creed III Join or Die Collectors Edition on Xbox 360 | Free UK Delivery | GAME

I couldn't help it - I just bought the last one ;)

OK, I'm going to say it - if you buy mass produced 'collectors/limited edition' game releases because you're expecting them to be worth something - you're being stupid you will be disappointed.

Buy stuff like that because you want what's included, not because you want to sell it. The only things that will be worth anything are truly limited items, like memorabilia only given out at conferences (in limited quantities) or numbered, limited runs (such as these statues), and even then you're taking a gamble on that franchise being big enough or noteworthy enough for anyone to care once general sale has finished.

Basically, my only gripe with "limited edition" sets is the dubious use of the word limited (they may be limited, but not enough that you'd struggle to get one if you wanted to) - "collector's edition" is more appropriate.

I don't normally bother with CEs, I get the CEs for Blizzard games because I like the boxes and various other things that come with, and I've got a pre-order for the Pip Boy edition of Fallout 4 (Sorry TB, this house DID Pre-Order) but that's about it.

It all comes down to whether or not I like the contents of the CE, I've got no room for statues and the like, so I don't bother with those, but if we're talking art books and DVDs, I'll normally go in for something like that.

I've never seen the point in them to be honest, it's just extra tat I don't need cluttering up my house, digital distribution is my favourite method of getting a game.

Mind you saying that I wouldn't mind a 20th Anniversary LE PS4.
