Hi

Unfortunately at home I have a dynamic IP address, but I would like to host a small webserver. I have signed upto DynDNS they provide a few products which one is the one I need? Also please can someone provide some guidance on how to set it up.

Also do I need to buy a domain name form them? Or can I use my current one?

Thanks

I found that and used that, thanks anyway.

Found a problem though. I can ping the address "fnhq.dnsdojo.net" my network with no problems but when I do it outside it won't work.

Please can people try and ping this.

What could the problem be i cannot see any firewalls but i have not configured my router could it be that?

Thanks

fnhq.dnsdojo.net resolves to IP 172.213.83.189.

No response from ping - your router may block ICMP (ping) packets.

If you haven't forwarded any ports from your router to a machine on your LAN then there is nothing to connect to from the internet.

Many ISPs also block certain ports.... they tend not to like having private webservers running and SMTP servers tend to be an even bigger no no.

Change the port number to something high and obscure. Also, which ISP are you with?
