Locking Down iPads

Hi All

 

We have had a recent incident of pupils adding words into the Predictive text on iPads, e.g. a user types "no" and it changes it to "yes" and vice versa. The SLT here find it difficult to believe that it is impossible to lock down iPads to prevent this from re-occurring. I have tried to explain that they are locked down as much as possible - which isn't much.

 

As they use multiple apps, we are unable to lock them to a specific app. It would be nice if there was an app similar to "Program Manager" in Windows 3.x, where we can lock pupils to it and only allow specific apps from being displayed?!

 

 

Has anyone else come across this incident?

Has anyone else managed to restrict the "Settings" app on the iPads?

I am afraid there is nothing similar to progman but with an MDM solution you can select for them to be restricted to one app, but that could be a management nightmare

That's exactly what I found, which is why I was thinking of a app similar to Win 3.x Program Manager. We use the Apple MDM here and I have applied as much policies as I can.

I would show SLT as much official documentation from Apple as possible. Why they believe you would want to make like more difficult for yourself by not locking down these features if possible is beyond me. Cannot contain my excitement for iOS 9 and FINALLY being able to stop the little darlings putting passcodes on.
