Anyone experienced this and what was the general feeling from staff and parents? Personally you could cut glass with my nipples at the thought of removing SLG so am eager to hear what you have to say. Thanks
Schoolcomms Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Obviously I'm going to say nice things about Schoolcomms, so I won't push it. All I would say is you can try it for yourself. You can have free trial of the entire product suite with zero commitment and we can typically get you up and running on the whole thing in less than 30minutes. Lots of schools use the trial with some "tame" parents and get their feedback. If you give the sales team a ring they will be able to find some schools like yours to talk to about their experiences. No comment on the nipples... 1

vikpaw Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 It depends, what are you using SLG for? The featureset differs. Schoolcomms is better at many things, but won't necessarily do everything, yet(!).
KSimp Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 We haven't used SLG so I can't compare the two, but we have used School Comms for almost two years and think it is great. It is really easy to use to send Linked Documents/timetables from SIMS so we email all our assessment update reports to parents that way. It is also great for general email and texts to parents. We have School Comms Online Reporting and parents really like being able to see the live behaviour information. We now have the option to show assessment data via Online Reporting but we haven't taken this leap yet! The support is brilliant, queries are responded to very quickly. We also have Room Booker and the online Parents' Evening booking system which are equally as good. 2
SouthCoastSaint Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 I had the Schoolcomms parental reporting demo recently - we currently use Insight and had previously used SLG. Schoolcomms is nice and clear and simple, and as we already use them for communications, we would have considered changing. One thing it didn't do (unless it has since been changed) was allow students to have an account using email addresses - we don't hold student mobile numbers for obvious reasons and would therefore be unable to send a pin out. Students log in to Insight as much as parents to check timetables etc so this was a deciding factor at the time. 1
Schoolcomms Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Yes we are thinking about better options for student login, texting the PIN provides good additional security, but we are considering a (school controlled) option to email PIN instead. We do definately get the point about students accessing timetables. We have a pretty good track record on this - you can email them from Schoolcomms, we have them on School Gateway web, we have them in SchoolGateway app, and now..... iWatch timetable !!! Not ready for the real world, just one of our superstar devs having fun. But cool to see what can be done, you saw it here first! 2
