[Chromebook] P2P updating

Google claim that P2P updating is enabled by default when using ChromeOs > 40

 

The Chromebooks that we have are on the domain and have p2p_update: Current update using P2P setting: DISABLED

I do not see a MMC option to turn this on and I have used staggered updates.

Is the staggered updates turning off the p2p setting ? or is something else happening ?

Hi, sorry for the late response.

 

We finished our training with Ed Doan of Google US on Friday, I posed this question to him after the session.

 

[Paraphrases slightly] Its disabled if the network doesn't have MDNS turned on and client isolation.

 

he said a quick test is to plug in a chromecast and see if you can pick it up.

 

He likened the issue to Airplay/Bonjour, most issues of this happening are due to the network.

 

Failing that, once a Chrome Management License is purchased for a device you receive 24/7 support from Google. It might be worth raising a ticket.

 

PM if you'd like more assistance with this. The Google UK team are really looking for ways to help people with potential/existing Chrome deployments.

Thanks @Haptic I will persevere to get this working.

 

Do you happen to know whether it will update/install apps as well as updates ?

We have a rather large (for chromebooks) 120MB file to push out soon.
