Hi,

I have downloaded the hopefully very handy SIMS Bulk Import tool, but I can't seem to get it work for me. :-/

I have created a CSV file that contains the following two columns: Admission Num, Learning Mentor

Once I have uploaded the CSV file and filled in the form accordingly, I click the Import button but it renders a blank table in my browser. I suspect I need to have more fields in my CSV than I currently have, although I was hoping it would only require the Admission Number to match on...

Any ideas? Thanks!

Try saving it as an Excel spreadsheet. What version you using? You can get the latest version from https://simsbulkimport.uk/. I assume Learning Mentor is a UDF? Is it a single-line text?

I'll try saving it as a standard .xlsx file. And yes, Learning Mentor is a single-line text UDF. I'm using the latest version (v2.01).

Will report back shortly.

I used it just the other day to upload all our student usernames to their SIMS profiles, worked a treat.

Did an export from SIMS of admission numbers and name, built a script to automatically check AD based on name to fill in a column called 'username'. Once that had done, had about 70 people left who had changed their name etc.

Uploaded it all, took a while for it to check and sync the data but 1300+ done.

I just tried to import some sample data from an .xlsx file again, but again, it fails to import the UDF data.

See attached screenshots - what am I doing wrong?

PS I have tried the import by matching just on Admission Number AND by Admission Number and Surname/Forename, and it gives me the same result.

Update to 2.3.27.0, that should sort you out - download from https://simsbulkimport.uk/

Hi Matt. I installed the latest version this morning and had another run at it, but it gives me the same problem. It matches the records up correctly, but once i click 'import', the web report shows that the data has not been successfully imported.

Do you think it might be some sort of permissions issue?

I to am having problems with this tool.

I downloaded the latest version yesterday.

I created a csv file with Admission No, Surname, Forename, Email and Location.

I can connect to the database, browse and open the csv and pick the fields that I want to import.

On clicking import it starts to process the file and then just closes the tool.

It never imports anything and there is no blank data in the csv file.

This is the first time we have tried to use this tool so have no previous experience to refer to.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hi Kate. What appears under the 'status' column before you click 'import'?

I had it close on me after 7% once because I disturbed it (clicked on it) - leave it be and well alone I have discovered!!!

Hi ilsley_SIMS,

Thanks for you prompt reply.

Once I have matched the fields and I click OK it starts listing the students and against the staus for each one it says "import email".

It will carry on listing the students on a per line basis and then suddenly stop and close the program.

It will stop at different students so I cannot isolate it to anyone in particular.

Any thoughts please?

Try a CSV file with just a small sample of records (maybe 3?) and see if that works in the first instance. If it works, then hopefully Matt can get a better idea of what the problem might be.
