I've really got myself in a bind which I hope you good people will help me get out of!

Some bright spark (that'll be me then!) decided they could offer home content filtering for parents.

The content filter works a bit too well for students home connections and now they are complaining it's too restrictive!

We set up filters based upon Keystage. ie - all KS3 get a pretty standard set of filters: no social networks, no porn, no games. ie - the usual school stuff.

We used the same polices for home as at school as a starting point but I'm struggling to reach a sensible solution.

Some parents are happy to let their kids play FB all night, some are not. What I'd like to do is give some kids FB after 6pm/weekends and some not.

How can I go about this ? on an individual basis?

Set up different authentication groups and apply filtering differently to each group. eg, like you might already have a staff and student group with different filtering policies, have a FB after 6 group and FB before 6, or offer 3-4 filtering levels - min, lite, ultra, max. Then add the students to the appropriate group.

Hi mjk, how did you setup global proxy please? I am struggling with mine. I need to setup one standard policy for our year 6 kids iPads. In and out of school.

1. I have setup DNS and a record to Smoothwall on a specific port.

2. I setup no auth on the internal IP and port

3. Setup global proxy server on Meraki to forward traffic to sw for filteration.

4. Installed client.cert on devices including guardian.cert through Meraki

But it isn't working, I don't get any internet if I enable global proxy I lose internet connection completely on devices.

Your help will be highly appreciated.

Kind regards

J.
