Dos_Box Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Has anyone played this yet? I may just get it for my kids this weekend, but would liek to know how it stands up to Minecraft.
LiamH Posted June 5, 2015 Author Posted June 5, 2015 (edited) I picked it up. Its still in pre-release like all these kind of games seem to be, a lot more geared towards exploring and building, everything is creative so no gathering blocks to build with. You do need to explore though, when you touch a new object it learns it, then you spend stubs to unlock it so you can place it where-ever you want after its been unlocked, same goes for vehicles and animals. Its a bit resource heavy right now, all the blocks are rendered individually. Here's some gameplay Edited June 5, 2015 by LiamH
rich_tech Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 looks a winner based on looks to start with compared to 8-bit minecraft
Dos_Box Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 (edited) My daughters laptop has an i5 with 8GB RAM and an SSD but Intel 4000 graphics. I wonder if that will cut it? Edited June 5, 2015 by Dos_Box
LiamH Posted June 5, 2015 Author Posted June 5, 2015 It has a full range of graphics options so i'm sure you could make it work.
DMcGuigan Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 It's not bad, controls are a little bit janky, seems to have been designed with a controller in mind. The camera keeps going off and doing it's own thing from time to time as well, I think it's whenever you get a new brick / costume / item. Rather irritating. I sum it up using this little story: Landed on planet, found and rode a polar bear to a dragon, rode a dragon, fireballed the polar bear, fireballed a hole in a mountain, flew through the mountain on a dragon. I now have a pet dragon and an in mountain house. Once I got past the issues, a fun little game.
TechMonkey Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 I wonder if they solved the dong detection issue? Exquisite Tweets from bottommeg
sted Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 watched a lets play of this over the weekend it does look good esp flying round on a dragon burning holes in the landscape (and the candy land environment looked cool. I suspect though my laptop may struggle with just a GeForce 550 iirc (it wasn't bought for gaming it just happened to have a decent video card for the time)
