Getting records to spread in to RTF Table cells

Hi all

 

This is really going back in my memory but I have to design reports which have a custom RTF template. What I am trying to do is display the records in a table. However I cannot get the records to fill all the cells of the table (it's 3 columns wide and 2 rows deep). At the moment the records appear in the first cell one after each other in a single column down the page. How do I get them to fill in to the table? I've tried having the Record Start and Record End in all sorts of different places but I just cannot get it to do what I need it to do.

Just made a test report and it works.

 

1) Create a table with two rows. Top one is for headings.

2) In Row 2 add your fields.

3) Add the RECORD START tag inside the first table cell and immediately before the first field in row 2. Example: ||

4) Add the RECORD END tag outside the table after the last field. Example: ||< RECORD END> (NOTE: It will automatically place the tag on the line below the table. This is normal.

 

The table will automatically expand with new records on each row.

 

This example creates a class list of students:

Thanks CAM but that is not what I'm after. I need something like below:

 

Student Name 1 Photo Dietary Need	Student Name 2 Photo Dietary Need	Student Name 3 Photo Dietary Need
Student Name 4 Photo Dietary Need	Student Name 5 Photo Dietary Need	Student Name 6 Photo Dietary Need

It's fiddly getting it to work this way as word generally works down the page and not across it.

 

What you're probably better off doing is creating one table per pupil and having it repeat across the page etc. I created an Exam Photo Cards report using the following format:

 

The really important thing to remember is to set columns on the page (I used 2 columns). Also, bare in mind you have to get the sizes spot on for it to work which can get messy.

 

The above template results in a report that looks like this:

@SimonCygnetIT take a look at the built-in student photographs report, i think it's a Word List report but should do very close to what you want with a bit of editing.
