That's free... Also, DS4 works by default [no config] in 8.1 through bluetooth AND USB. [source: Me]
synaesthesia Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Gamepad... for a pc.... for shooting games.... Argh! (Their adverts, not you!) And there's plenty of software out there for free, as above, that will do exactly this. Xpadder is one I believe I've used before for something.

Though more and more games have built in controller support I find they're useful for older games or if you want to tweak the layout. I got PGP when it was on offer and don't regret the purchase.

Xpadder is for games without controller support. It just emulates key presses with controller buttons. Mine doesn't. Aside from turning my PS4 on everytime I turn the controller on, it needs SCPServer for games to recognise it. Works for me in GTA V.

Some games don't let you use controllers at all. Like the PC version of Dragon Age : Origins. Others only use xinput [official 360 controllers use it] DS3/DS4 and generic ones that use DirectInput won't work unless you use external software.

You don't Not all games work with pads on PC - notably the Mass Effect series. That's when you'd need a program like this (or one of the free alternatives already listed) if you wanted to use a pad with one of those games. Find solutions for problems, not problems for solutions. 1

Do more with buttons and controls using our patented double-commands, cycles, toggles, multiple shift states, and unlimited macro capabilities. It's cheating software disguised as controller emulation. 1

PGP does the same - it's just a bit more slick and it's easier to find pre-made layouts. Some games don't let you use controllers at all. Like the PC version of Dragon Age : Origins. That's why I got PGP! IIRC development on Xpadder seemed to have ground to a halt at the time, though I notice it's started back up now.

I'm very much in the elitist "Learn to do it properly or don't do it at all" camp. Probably why I sucked at Starcraft.

I never used macros in WoW [back when I played] I just organised everything into a pattern.

It was a bit of a dumb question especially as I didn't appear to have a need for it. sounds like a good idea for games that do not have controller support, but honestly those games I use keyboard and mouse so I will give it a miss...but someone may find the link helpful

Damage skills on one side, buffs on the other, stuns/dots on the ALTs. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, *pause*, 7, 8, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 0, *pause*, ALT+1, ALT+2, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 0, (repeat ad infinatum) The good old days. Though WoW lets you create your own macros in-game now, so I don't consider macroing abuse if you use the in-game setup.
